The Outdoor Living Wish List

August 29, 2020 Outdoor Living, Promotion

Texas Custom Patios is currently featured in Hearth & Home magazine, we are among several gorgeous projects built across the country. So many different styles and prices, but we have one thing in common… the appreciation for design and a quality build.

When consumers were asked for their outdoor living feature wish list, these were the top contenders:

  • Fire Pits/fireplaces
  • Built-in gas grills
  • Patio heaters
  • Pizza ovens
  • Beverage centers
  • BBQ islands

So as you can see with four of the six items, outdoor kitchens continue to be a hot item! No matter the space you have, creating an outdoor oasis is doable and can increase the value of your home substantially. The foreseeable future forecasts “staycations” as a hot commodity, so the time is now to improve your home!

Our experienced personal project developers will work one-on-one with you to create a custom-designed outdoor kitchen that blends seamlessly with your home’s exterior.

You can choose stone, brick, or stucco finishes; and granite, tile, or concrete counters; but we’ll always use a high-quality framework underneath. We build all outdoor kitchens with tubular steel framing and fiber-cement sheathing to give you a durable, non-expansive, and heat-proof foundation.

Two of our projects were featured in Hearth & Home, both beautiful but very different! The first one beams with wow factor!

The second featured project in the magazine is cozy, quaint, but still says, “wow!” This project is 450 square feet of beautiful outdoor living space in Houston, Texas.

Award-Winning Outdoor Living Projects

July 25, 2020 Awards, Patio Design, Project of the Month

The Texas Association of Builders (TAB) was excited to announce 394 projects made the finals of the 2020 Star Awards. This year saw a record breaking 624 entries from 54 cities across the state of Texas.

The out-of-state judges reviewed 187 categories and select the best in Texas. TAB launched the Star Awards program in 1992 and it remains the only statewide tribute to excellence in the residential homebuilding industry.

Winners were just revealed at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Texas during the Sunbelt Builders Show™.

This year’s entries showcased the outstanding work of builders, remodelers, architects, designers, sales professionals, marketing professionals, construction professionals and industry leaders in Texas and surrounding areas. With nearly 200 categories to choose from and hundreds of entries each year, it’s impressive to be recognized.

We are proud to announce that Texas Custom Patios was nominated in four different categories and we won all four! It’s an honor to be recognized among other elite builders. Here are the projects that impressed the judges!

Winner 50 – 75k

This older home needed a backyard make-over. The family needed some shade, a nicer area to entertain, and a built-in kitchen. For details and pictures on this entire project, click here.

Winner 75k – 100k

The homeowners wanted to add about 850 square feet of outdoor living space, so we added an expansive kitchen, living room and dining area. We worked through the existing drainage issues, and added Astro Turf. Now the home is complete and perfect for entertaining! For details and pictures on this entire project, click here.

Winner 100k – 125k

The customer had an existing pergola with arches that were on its last leg. They wanted to remove the deteriorating pergola and add a space that could add the “wow” factor to the backyard when they looked out their living room window. They wanted a space that could blend with the architecture of the home along with the design of the pool. For details and pictures on this entire project, click here.

Winner 125k – 150k

This project needed remodeling in both the front and the back of the home. This gorgeous patio was done in a contemporary style complete with an outdoor dining and living area. For details and pictures on this entire project, click here.

Josh Miller – Project Developer
Josh is a West Texas boy that loves the outdoors and helping others enjoy it also.
I have a background in customer service and sales, most recently in the oil and gas industry.  I love the quality that TCP brings to the table. It’s not your average patio covering, it’s a custom built extension of the original home for the homeowner to enjoy an amazing outdoor lifestyle.  Fun fact… I love going to national parks and took a 2 month camping road trip hitting 6 major national parks in the western US with lots of smaller ones in between.
David Mitchell Elliot – Project Developer
David originally from Minnesota is an avid golfer who moved to Texas 3 years ago with his wife, Betty.
I’m a former pastor, philosophy teacher and concrete company owner.  I love the personality of the Texas Custom Patios and the organization itself.  The product we produce is awesome!  Fun fact… I played pro basketball in Europe in the early eighties.
Crystal Morgan – Office Manager
Crystal was born and raised in the DFW area!
My entire career has been in office management ranging from advertising to country clubs. I  love working with TCP because I am able to see complete, beautiful outdoor living transformations! It’s absolutely amazing to see all kinds of projects from start to finish.  Fun fact… I’m a huge animal lover!
Lilia Alvarez – Office Assistant
Lilia was born and raised in Dallas,Texas!
I enjoy all of the wonderful customers I get to speak with and seeing the finished projects the designers work so hard on.  Fun fact… I enjoy working on DIY/ fixer upper projects on the weekends!
Joshua Murray – Project Developer
He was born in Nuremberg Germany where his parents were stationed oversees.  He then grew up and served 9 years in the military.
I love creating awesome backyard experiences for homeowners and working with a good team!

Our Customers Love Us

I totally love our transformed backyard, which faces west and is consequently quite hot in the summer; the table umbrella just didn’t do much. Now we have a better patio, much more sophisticated looking and professionally done to match the existing house so it looks like it was always there. Great job!
