Texas Custom Patios is a family-owned and operated business located in Houston, Texas and Irving, Texas, but our service area covers most of the greater Houston area and parts of the Dallas – Fort Worth area. We have completed more than 2,000 outdoor living projects since we opened our doors in 2004.
At Texas Custom Patios, we’re confident in our work – and we want you to feel confident, too.
That’s why we offer a two-year warranty for materials and workmanship, and a five-year warranty for structural components of your home improvement project.
We also have $1 million in liability insurance to protect against accidents and injury.
At Texas Custom Patios, we offer personalized service and flexible payment terms, and when you choose to work with us, you’ll work with your project team every step of the way. Along with the Project Developer that assisted in the preliminary design stage, you will also have a dedicated Project Manager that will assist throughout the project completion and clean-up.
We specialize in providing turnkey design solutions for outdoor living, including patio covers; outdoor kitchens; screened porches and patios; room additions; pergolas and decks; outdoor fireplaces; and more. View our portfolio.
When you schedule a consultation with one of our experienced project developers, you’ll receive more than just a ballpark figure. We’ll tell you exactly how much your outdoor living project will cost – down to the penny.
But that’s not all. At Texas Custom Patios, every estimate includes a detailed drawing with specifications and dimensions, plus rendered views and elevations – so you can see a preview of your completed project.
Texas Custom patios of Houston and DFW has won a “Best Of Houzz” award for “Design and Customer Service” on Houzz®, the leading platform for home renovation and design. The custom outdoor living design builder was chosen by the millions of homeowners that comprise the Houzz community from among more than 2.5 million active home building, remodeling and design industry professionals.
The Best Of Houzz badge is awarded annually, in three categories: Design, Customer Service and Photography. Design awards honor professionals whose work was the most popular among the Houzz community. Customer Service honors are based on several factors, including a pro’s overall rating on Houzz and client reviews submitted in 2020. Architecture and interior design photographers whose images were most popular are recognized with the Photography award.
A “Best Of Houzz 2021” badge will appear on winners’ profiles as a sign of their commitment to excellence. These badges help homeowners identify popular and top-rated home professionals in every metro area on Houzz.
“We at Texas Custom Patios are thrilled to be named as a Best of Houzz winner. We take pride in our projects and are so pleased our designs have caught the eyes of so many Houzzers. And we always strive to treat our homeowners with respect and work diligently to provide great service,” said Katherine Douglass, co-owner for the custom builder.
“The Best Of Houzz awards are an emblem of trust and credibility for home professionals across the U.S. and around the world, and we are excited to celebrate this year’s winners,” said Liza Hausman, vice president of Industry Marketing for Houzz. “The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the critical need for people to feel comfortable before inviting pros into and around their homes, and the Best Of Houzz badge is a powerful way for pros to communicate the trust that homeowners have in their business. It’s just one of many tools on the Houzz platform that help pros to communicate their unique expertise, and homeowners to find the right professionals for their projects.”

The sweaty summer days are behind us (we think), and cooler days are ahead! So as fast as we have forgotten how hot it can be, most of us will crave a cozy fire, super soft blanket and the feeling that the holidays are here!
Creating a winter wonderland is easy with a few essentials, we hope you keep warm and safe this season!
Tip #1 – Bring the Heat
If you don’t have a built-in fireplace or pit like the picture below, adding some heat to your area can be easy and affordable. Whether it be a propane fire pit, free-standing heater or classic wood burning fire feature, adding warmth is a necessity in keeping comfortable.
Tip #2 – Lighting
You will get a little lighting from the flames in Tip #1, but with the days being shorter through the winter, you’ll need to shed a little light on things. String lights are a great option not only for a source of light, but to create a warm ambiance! Candles also create a cozy setting for relaxing.
Tip #3 – Cozy Seating
The lighting can be just right and very relaxing, but if you’re sitting in something uncomfortable the whole experience can get ruined (just ask Goldilocks). There are so many options when it comes to outdoor furniture, try something that allows for deep seating and plush pillows… something where you can snuggle and sink. For added warmth and decor, include an oversized throw blanket… you’ll never want to go inside.
Tip #4 – Flooring
Whether your patio has nice flooring or not, consider adding an outdoor rug to warm things up and add some style. Today’s outdoor rugs are weather tolerant and come in a wide variety of sizes, colors and patterns. So many choices makes it easy to find a rug that blends with your overall outdoor living style.
If you’re gathered with family or having alone time with a good book, enjoy your surroundings and happy holidays!
Over 1,600 custom patios in the past 15 years can now claim to be the homeowners’ favorite room because of Texas Custom Patios! We specialize in building outdoor living spaces, patio covers, screened porches, outdoor kitchens, room additions, sunrooms, outdoor fireplaces and pergolas.
We have been serving Greater Houston since 2004 and within the last few years have taken our services to the north Dallas area. So you will always have someone close by as your go-to guy!
We create a design drawing so you can see what the project will actually look like on your home, taking away the guessing game. We custom design and build the outdoor living space to look original to the home, matching finishes, colors, existing brick, etc… We handle all HOA approvals and permits, so no stress there!

Trending more and more each year is outdoor living, homeowners are now investing in a lifestyle that can be enjoyed on the exterior of the home. Life is short, so why not have your home be your own personal paradise. At Texas Custom Patios, we specialize in perfecting that outdoor living dream custom tailored to your home.
There are a few places where you can upgrade and take your outdoor living to the next level!
Outdoor Kitchens
Having a grill is nice, but having a built-in sizzler, sink and drink fridge is even nicer! We will custom build anything you want as long as it makes sense in the area that you would like. Meticulous detail goes into the design process so that you end up with something that is both beautiful and functional.
Technology
With the love for outdoor living becoming more popular, so has the enchantment for outdoor technology. We build our projects with sound systems, televisions, security, and safety in mind. Home automation is now taking a walk outside, making it even easier to throw that patio party.
Seamless Transition
With a wall of sliding glass panels, it’s now hard to tell where the interior of a home ends and the exterior begins. These type of sliding doors makes for a wide-open transition between home and patio. Every home that likes to entertain needs to think about this addition a little more before closing the door on the idea.
Add the Heat
Although heat is not something Texans yearn for, in the cooler months a fire feature comes highly recommended. It adds an extra flair to your outdoor living area, leaving you with a cozy place to make memories.
There are so many fun things to add to your outdoor living space, take a look at our gallery to get more ideas.

I have a lot of experience with construction and renovations, so some contractors find me annoying at best. My outdoor living project was larger than I was able to take on as it entailed adding an outdoor living area, kitchen, dining room, and bathroom with a fireplace and fire pit. It’s built onto an existing structure with a tile roof in a seamless manner. The completed project is amazing, and was featured in the Houzz project of the month for December 2013. It was a very large project so it took a long time to complete, however the process was absolutely painless. In my previous experiences, I have always had issues with miscommunications and added costs, among other things. My experience with Texas Custom Patios included NONE of these issues. The finished project far exceeded my expectations. The workmanship was superior, and the quality of the products is top of the line. I truly highly recommend them.
