This homeowner had a great pool in the yard, but was interested in creating an outdoor retreat complete with an outdoor kitchen, fireplace, fire pit, pergola and to update the small existing patio cover.
The existing backyard needed to be updated to create the perfect backyard retreat.
This space was original to the home, but we upgraded the ceiling to match the new covered space. It is English Porter pre-stained tongue and groove by Woodtone. New lighting was added to complete the look. The homeowner changed out the windows with new doors for easy access to the space.
A small pergola was added along the back as well to provide a sitting nook. The pergola is covered with a Hercules Pergola Cover from Cover Your Pergola to keep everything dry underneath. Decorative lighting and a fan was also installed.
This space was added along the side of the backyard to create the perfect outdoor living area. It is about 435 SF with a vaulted ceiling and open gables at the end and along the front side.
The L-shaped outdoor kitchen was built along the end of the space. It has a 40″ grill, sink, outdoor fridge, and storage areas – all RCS brand from Cunningham Gas. The counter is Coffee Brown Leather granite from Instyle Granite. There is a raised bar top for seating along the outside. Decorative lighting above the kitchen really sets the stage.
This area, with the high vaulted ceiling, really opens up the space. The fireplace is a custom-built gas fireplace with an insert from Perfection Fireplace. The stone on the fireplace, kitchen and columns are Blanco Chopped from Rock Materials. The stone caps on the fireplace are Chiffon Moire Ashlar Natural White from Apex Stone. The mantle is custom stained cedar. All of the flooring is stamped concrete.
For relaxing out by the pool, a fire pit was built. The same stone was used on this to tie everything together. Black lava rock to fill the pit is from Republic Gas Bowls. Such a great space to sit out under the stars.
Texas Custom Patios did an amazing job on our covered patio, outdoor kitchen, and outdoor living area. Steven listened to the things we were looking for, and was able to come up with original design ideas that included moving our outdoor garage-addition staircase and blending in an unusual roofline with a new gable style roof. The results were exactly what we were looking for. The construction process was professional, on-time, and on-budget. All of the crews were professional and the work they did exceeded our expectations. We are very happy with the results and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to add an outdoor living area to their home.
