The homeowner was interested in creating a whole new look for their backyard. They were getting a pool installed and wanted to create a larger outdoor living space to accomodate an outdoor kitchen, dining area, fire place and sitting area.
The yard had a small covered space with a small outdoor kitchen that was just not large enough.
TCP designed and built this new 550SF patio cover attached to the home to include all the amenities they were looking for. The new structure has stucco finishes to match the home and a beautiful wood tongue and groove ceiling from Real tone Fine Line in Smokey Bourbon. The flooring they chose was a 16X32 Stones and More Burl white exterior tile from Thorntree.
This space is arranged perfectly to host friends and family for outdoor events. Being able to enjoy the outdoors year round with plenty of room is exactly what they desired.
The custom kitchen includes RCS brand appliances – 40″ grill, cutlass side burner, drawers and doors, outdoor fridge, sink and an ice maker. The counters are all a stunning granite and the waterfall edge creates a very dramatic look.
The island bar top was added for additional seating. The tile along this wall is New Wave Crystal White marble from Thorntree. This is the ideal spot to hang out while the chef is grilling.
This part of the outdoor space is just perfect to curl up with a good book or sip a glass of wine to unwind at the end of a hectic day. The privacy wall and fireplace is the perfect backdrop for the space.
The fireplace is custom built with reclaimed firebrick in a herring bone pattern. The custom floating mantle adds a special touch. On the sides of the privacy wall, you can see the putting green that was also added to the yard.
A close up shot of the granite also gives you a glimpse of the rest of the yard. Stepping stones to match the flooring were added to tie together the new outdoor living room to the smaller covered area off the primary bedroom. Updates were made to that covered space to match the new living room. Astroturf was put down to keep the yard looking fresh all year long.
I have a lot of experience with construction and renovations, so some contractors find me annoying at best. My outdoor living project was larger than I was able to take on as it entailed adding an outdoor living area, kitchen, dining room, and bathroom with a fireplace and fire pit. It’s built onto an existing structure with a tile roof in a seamless manner. The completed project is amazing, and was featured in the Houzz project of the month for December 2013. It was a very large project so it took a long time to complete, however the process was absolutely painless. In my previous experiences, I have always had issues with miscommunications and added costs, among other things. My experience with Texas Custom Patios included NONE of these issues. The finished project far exceeded my expectations. The workmanship was superior, and the quality of the products is top of the line. I truly highly recommend them.
