This homeowner wanted to create a space for both an upper and lower living space. They had an existing 2nd story patio cover and had plenty of room to extend that roof and create the new balcony space. A beautiful custom built spiral staircase with railing was installed.
Attaching to the existing 2nd story roof line was a challenge because of the windows along the back of the home.
Adding the balcony allowed for the homeowner to expand their downstairs outdoor living area. The ceiling is an English Porter stained tongue and groove. The columns are 2-story stone columns.
Double the living space … this entire project is about 450 square feet. The upper ceiling is vaulted and has a custom curved decorative beam across the gabled opening.
A landing area and small seating area makes for a perfect way to get a birds eye view of the pool. A door was added for access to the balcony from the upstairs living area. The balcony flooring is a light walnut travertine tile.
We had very high expectations when Texas Custom Patios began construction on our back patio space. Because our roofline has a steep pitch and the odd location of our chimney, we were concerned about whether the addition would flow seamlessly with the rest of the roofline. Steven and his crews far exceeded our expectations. Professional and attentive to our concerns, Texas Custom Patios created the outdoor space we’ve always wanted – only better.
